The Tunisian hook also know as an Afghan hook has a hand carved crochet hook on one end and a knitting needle top on the other end. When crocheting the loops remain on the hook so the result is a knit-like fabric. Available sizes 5mm – 9mm
River John Needle Company:
In the spring of 2003 we started making birch wooden needles on the farm and they have been selling around the globe since then. Those that knit and crochet appreciate the qualities of a wooden needle or hook and with our wool it is another local environmentally sustainable product.
Knitters that use our birch needles will tell you that they are light weight yet strong, and smooth without being slippery. The stitches just glide over the needle. Our needles have a fine coating of wax which gives the needles a little bit of grip. Wood is warm and quiet unlike plastics and metals which are cold , slippery to hold and noisy.
We make a range of styles and we often make custom orders so if there is a size you are looking for and it is not listed please contact the shop . We just may be able to make it for you!!
